Deconstructed a piano today. Long story short, CL guy came got what he wanted, left me with the main structure of the piano. With a sledge and an axe I made short work of it. Literally, hours of work destroyed in seconds. On one hand, it was fun and on the other, it was not satisfying. This piano was made in the early 50’s and I can imagine it taking a LONG time to build. No robots or C n’ C machines for this piano. Painstaking craftsmanship and dedication. Pretty admirable...
But it was still really fun to reduce it to splinters.

As a piano Snob, there are plenty of shitty pianos out there that need to meet a similar fate. I applaud you sir.

I got this particular piano off of CL for free. I quickly found out when I got it home that it was not going to be able to be tuned or made playable. I found another and was happily surprised. In great shape, tunable and best of all free.

As a half assed musician (no longer in h.s. glory days) you get comfortably numb from seeing working instruments get junked or on the scrap heap. If this was a Selmer Paris Mark VI alto sax, I’d probably cry like a little girly man.

As long it wasn’t a Hammond organ, you’ve done no harm.
